    Open source in libraries: Implementation of an open source ILMS at Asia e-University library

    Open source systems for libraries have improved significantly to gain the confidence of librarians. The main focus of the paper is to describe the selection process and criteria that led to the implementation of Koha the first open source Integrated Library Management System at the AeU Library. A study was made based on the set criteria used to compare and contrast with the more popular propriety library management systems. The paper presents the findings of the study which led to the selection of Koha, and a brief introduction to features of open source systems for libraries. The reasoning and conditions for accepting Koha are discussed. A brief account of the implementation process and related experience of the open source ILMS are given. AeU library implemented the various modules of the system: cataloging, online public access (OPAC), circulation, patron management and acquisitions. The expanding influence and acceptance of OSS in libraries is here to stay. Malaysian libraries may need to look into the credible options and benefits of utilizing open source systems and harness this development in ILS

    KOHA ILS: The Next Level

    Koha is an Open Source Integrated Library Systems was developed in 1999. Koha has been adopted by libraries in Malaysia starting in 2008. After 7 years, Koha has been chosen by significant numbers of libraries in Malaysia including large academic library recently. The trend gives indication of library acceptance in Open Source Software as compared to other Open Source ILS Software. This paper intends to discuss post implementation of Koha Open Source ILS in perspectives; technical perspective, new suggested features and managerial perspective related to Koha and open source software. This paper gives overview of selected features that might be missed by Koha users, what more can be done with the system and few critical issues in managing open source software implementation

    User Satisfaction on the MySejahtera Application among Postgraduate Students in a University in Selangor

    This study adapted the Expectation Confirmation Theory (ECT) and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework of user satisfaction on the MySejahtera application among postgraduate students. This study uses a questionnaire based on a quantitative approach, and the questionnaire was distributed using purposive sampling consisting of 176 postgraduate students in a University in Selangor. The respondent’s gender, age, education, information quality, system quality, service quality, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and user satisfaction were investigated. Results showed that system quality, service quality, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness are influenced by user satisfaction, and the hypotheses are supported. In contrast, information quality is not influenced by user satisfaction and the hypothesis is not supported.     Internet and books are regarded as the world's two main sources of information. Students, especially in higher leaning institutions rely on these sources in various learning activities. Internet has becoming popular among them, as they regard it as the most useful source of information. However, the importance of books as a source of information cannot be denied. This paper attempts to discover the information searching behaviour of students with regards to the two sources of information and identify which source being used more than the other. Previous research supports the finding that both sources function in the same manner; in providing the required information. The only difference is the method or skills needed retrieving information from either source. Technology through internet may have invaded the world, but the authentic element of books are still indispensible. That is why internet and books are both relevant in fulfilling information needs of student
